POWERBUILDER 12 ….JOIN THE REVOLUTION!
PowerBuilder 12 is almost here, and it’s going to be BIG. PowerBuilder
12 is arguably the most important version to go to market, ever. Key reasons
why:
·
Not one, but two IDEs. PowerBuilder
12 will ship with the “classic” windows 32 based IDE and a new, WPF based IDE
that is built on top of the Visual Studio isolated shell. This means the
PowerBuilder has Visual Studio INSIDE of it and we can therefore leverage it
for core IDE functionality and spend our own engineering resources on creating
differentiating technology and simplifying .NET application development.
·
Code is a terrible thing to
waste. Sybase is the only vendor in the
market providing a migration path for Win32 code to .NET, WPF and beyond. We
are protecting our customers’ investment and showing that we value their
loyalty.
·
One code line can solve all
your business needs. Deploy your apps as traditional client/server based Win32
executables, or as .NET Winforms, Webforms, Smart Clients, .NET assemblies, Web
Services, or WPF fully managed code applications. Write once, deploy
anywhere…..Java wrote the tagline but PowerBuilder brings it to fruition!
·
PowerBuilder delivers the
best of both worlds – just like Hanna Montana! Developers can hang out and take
it slow (after developing faster than anyone else with PowerBuilder) after they
rock out the show (with the sizzle and pop of Visual Studio’s WPF.) PowerBuilder 12’s WPF IDE is based on the
Visual Studio shell combining the ease of PowerBuilder and .NET power of VS.
·
.NET – easy and fast.
PowerBuilder’s DataWindow is still unmatched for powerful and easy data access,
manipulation, business logic validation, and presentation. And, v12 has a
DataWindow that’s rewritten in C# and natively supports WPF.
PowerBuilder 12 Launch Events
PowerBuilder is on track for its GA release in Q2. We will announce the
month when we are within 1 month of GA. PowerBuilder’s main launch event will
take place during Developer Days, along with ADS, SUP, and SQLAnywhere. The
event kicks off in the end of April in EMEA, with stops in Milan, Wiesbaden,
Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Stockholm, and Paris. During the first two weeks of
May, we’ll visit Boston, New York, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
There will be more events throughout the year, including TechWave (date,
city still TBD,) ISUG hands-on labs, and various Microsoft events throughout
the world, such as TechEd and PDC.
More information regarding all aspects of the PB 12 release will be
announced as it becomes available.
Don’t wait, MIGRATE! Get your
customers ready for PowerBuilder 12, and the future
Most likely, your customers have been using PowerBuilder for a very long
time. And, most likely they have some pretty unorganized code written by
different people with lots of patches and plugs. That’s ok – it’s always easier
and more cost effective to fix code in PowerBuilder than to rewrite.
We have been busy creating content, tutorials, techdocs, videos, and
more to help you and your customers understand how easy it is to migrate to new
versions of PowerBuilder, and how PowerBuilder is always the most cost
effective choice for your business. Please check out these resources and pass
them along to customers!!
